Join us for Mansfield Summer Raz 2014!

This program is an approved part of the Mansfield Public Schools Summer Education Program.

·        Who?          Students entering Grade 1, Grade 2  and Grade 3 in the Mansfield

Public Schools in the fall of 2014

·       What?        Raz-Kids.com  reading program with an individualized pacing

·       When?        June 30^th - August 15^th

·        Where?      Home, library…anywhere with a computer connected to the Internet!

·       How?          No cost! You must go to www.mansfieldrazkids.blogspot.com and

click on the REGISTRATION LINK by June 20^th.  You can also go to the Quick Links at the top of your school’s web page to be directed there. NO paper registration will be available.

Dear Parent or Guardian,

Summer vacation is just around the corner and I want to make sure that your child continues to make progress in his or her reading during the break. Our district has a subscription to Raz-Kids.com, which allows your child to access an online library of reading materials from any computer connected to the Internet. Raz-Kids helps students improve their reading skills as they listen to a book read to them which models fluency.  Next, they read the book to themselves or aloud for practice and then take an interactive quiz at the end of each book to check for understanding.  If your child has been involved with this program throughout this school year, he/she will be able to continue right where he/she left off!

I have been a certified elementary teacher for 24 years and have been teaching at Annie E. Vinton School for the past 14 years.  I will be overseeing your child’s progress this summer.  Through a blog I will be in contact with you throughout the summer and I will also be sending your child messages of encouragement through Raz-Kids.

There is no cost for your involvement!  I will contact you, via email, on how to access your child’s reading assignment.  (If your child had a password from his/her teacher this year, it may be different for the summer.)
